<description><![CDATA[Jewellery designer Alessandra Moneta has launched a new collection in Dubai this week.<br/><br/>Moneta, who specialises in bespoke jewellery as well as the restoration of antique pieces, saw her pieces displayed to an esteemed crowd in the emirate.<br/><br/>Held at the Mina A'Salam Ballroom in the Madinat Jumeirah, the event featured an array of re-worked and new pieces, crafted by Moneta to suit her customer's specific taste and styles.<br/><br/>Gold and precious stones are used to illustrate the customer's character, which the designer is said to glean by developing a confidential relationship with them.<br/><br/>Members of the Italian nobility's jewellery collections the designer has worked with include the Collection Conti di Castiglione di Venegono Collection and the Duchess Pignatelli della Leonessa.<br/><br/>In related news, a flawless <a href="http://www.iangallacher.com/Platinum-Rings/Solitaire-Rings/Heart-Shape/" target="_self">heart shape diamond ring</a> was among the most prominent pieces sold at a Geneva jewellery auction held by Christie's this week, where it was sold alongside a blue diamond ring and a brooch, reports Reuters.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1633-ID-18595511-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1633&itemid=18595511" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Blue diamond ring sells for millions at auction]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[A blue diamond weighing 13.39 carats set in a ring was sold for 9.23 million Swiss francs (&#163;4.61 million) this week, auction house Christie's has confirmed.<br/><br/>Reuters reports that the ring, which also features tiny pink diamonds, drew the most money at the Geneva auction on Wednesday.<br/><br/>Other prominent jewellery deals included a flawless <a href="http://www.iangallacher.com/Platinum-Rings/Solitaire-Rings/Heart-Shape/" target="_self">heart shape diamond ring</a>, which weighed some 21.4 carats and fetched just under 3.3 million Swiss francs.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, a diamond necklace, set with large emeralds and natural pearls, was sold for 5.87 million Swiss francs and the matching brooch fetch 4.6 million Swiss francs, it was revealed.<br/><br/>&quot;The jewellery sale saw extremely strong prices for colourless and coloured diamonds. <description><![CDATA[People in Northampton like their jewellery more than anyone else in the country, according to new research.<br/> <br/>The average resident of this city, formerly famous for its shoe industry, wears &#163;469 worth of gold, silver, platinum and diamonds, the Halifax study revealed.<br/> <br/>Only &#163;1 behind, however, is Glasgow, and Wrexham residents pile on &#163;460 of bling every day.<br/> <br/>A complete picture of the British Isles shows that collectively we own &#163;52 billion in baubles that might include <a href="http://www.iangallacher.com/Bracelets/" target="_self">diamond bracelets</a>, gold rings, off-the-tray and bespoke jewellery pieces.<br/> <br/>On a daily basis, Brits wear &#163;8.6 billion and Halifax went as far as to warn people they should insure their items for their full amount and, if in doubt, get it valued.<br/> <br/>Senior claims manager Martyn Foulds said: &quot;Our research shows that between us we Brits own a staggering amount of jewellery and enjoy making a statement by wearing valuable items when out and about.&quot;<br/> <br/>A recent survey by Money Expert revealed that &#163;750 a year is spent on romantic gifts, including items of jewellery, with men spending more than women.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1633-ID-18594084-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1633&itemid=18594084" />]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Singer Mariah Carey has discovered that the <a href="http://www.iangallacher.com/Platinum-Rings/" target="_self">platinum diamond engagement ring</a> bought for her by husband Nick Cannon is similar if not the same, as one he presented to a previous girlfriend.<br/> <br/>The &#163;1.5 million pink diamond ring is &quot;strikingly similar&quot; to one Mr Cannon gave to his then-fiancee Selita Ebanks when he was engaged to the Victoria's Secret model last year, the Telegraph claims.<br/> <br/>An example of one of the largest styles of diamond rings, the 17carat iceberg is surrounded by 58 pink diamonds and two half-moon diamonds.<br/> <br/>The newspaper also noted that French premiere Nicolas Sarkozy also committed the 'ultimate' engagement sin when he gave Carla Bruni a Dior Cupidon ring, the same style he gave to his former wife towards the end of their relationship.<br/> <br/>It suggested that men did not understand the meaning of an engagement ring for some women.<br/> <br/>Divorce lawyer Vanessa Lloyd-Platt told the publication that one possible way out of this sticky situation for Mr Cannon would be to offer to have the stones reset.<br/> <br/>It is Ms Carey's second marriage; she divorced Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola in 1997.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1633-ID-18594057-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1633&itemid=18594057" />]]></description>
