SECURITY has been stepped up at a jewellers after a £24,000 diamond ring was stolen.
A thief snatched the 18ct white gold ring after tricking a female shop assistant into showing him some earrings.
Detectives are continuing to hunt the thief, who struck at Griffin Jewellers in Bridlington on Saturday.
The ring features a 4ct brilliant cut diamond in the centre, surrounded by 78 round brilliant cut diamonds.
The ring has its own unique "fingerprint", which means it can be identified by other jewellers and laboratories.
David White, managing director of the Prospect Street store, said: "Although we were the unfortunate victims of a robbery in which a small amount of jewellery was stolen, there were no injuries and the police hope to make a quick arrest, assisted by our state-of-the-art in-store security equipment.
