Two men have been charged with stealing a pricey diamond ring following a daring theft at a Saskatoon jewellery store.
The 2.69-carat ring, which police said is "valued at thousands of dollars," was reported stolen from a jewellery store on the 100 block of 21st Street East, close to the Midtown Plaza, at around 1:30 p.m. CST on Wednesday.
Police said two men went into GMG Jewellers. One asked to look at the ring while the other walked around for a bit and then left.
The first man grabbed the ring, ran out of the store and got into the getaway car — a green 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt that was later reported stolen.
Someone had obtained the keys after breaking into a locker at a nearby fitness centre, police said.
