An official at Crater of Diamonds State Park near says the recent find of a 3.83 carat diamond marks the 30th diamond of one carat or larger found at the park this year.
David Anderson found the diamond last Monday while washing dirt from a hole he dug. Park Interpreter Margi Jenks says the diamond is pale yellow, very shiny and about the size of a dime.
Park Superintendent Justin Dorsey says Anderson's find was the 535th diamond found at the park this year. Dorsey says the largest was an 8.66 carat found in April.
