Saul Langston, 43, was angry that the Baker Street singer's daughter, Martha Rafferty, would not return property he had left at her Cotswolds cottage – including his cannabis plants growing in the garden.
So when she was on holiday with her seven year old daughter in Scotland last August, Langston travelled by coach from his West Sussex home and broke into the cottage in Minchinhampton, near Stroud, Glos.
He took Ms Rafferty's jewellery and other property worth a total of £7,000 to 'teach her a lesson' and returned with it to his home in Scholars Court, Turners Hill Road, Crawley Down, West Sussex.
Langston admitted burglary of her house in August 2010 and was given a 12 months community order with supervision and placed on a six months alcohol rehab programme.
