Rugby Star Proposes With Diamonds

MARK Gilbride has played professional rugby in Italy and Japan and until now nerves have never been a problem.

A former backrower with Premier Rugby club Souths, Gilbride has tackled some scary opponents.

But nothing unnerved him as much as proposing marriage to Australia Diamonds and Queensland Firebird stunner Laura Geitz.

Having smuggled the engagement ring into their inner Brisbane home, he had planned to pop the question during a romantic dinner.

He very nearly gave the game away early.

"Mark was pacing the hallway and I suspected something was up," Geitz said.

"He told me he was going to the car to get his (credit) cards and I almost followed him."
