A wedding ring is a gift given in promise of marriage. If the marriage fails, the ring should return to the individual who gave it at the wedding. What would the individual do with the ring? In most cases, the person does not want the ring back and especially if the marriage lasted for a long period. The individual would desire to leave the ring with the person who wore the ring. The couple can invoke the law or ignore it.
