Nicole Richie Flashes Her Big Diamond Ring

After three years together and two children, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are tying the knot.

The socialite, 28, confirmed she was engaged to the Good Charlotte frontman, 30, when she appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman last night.

Arriving at the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York City, a beaming Richie flashed her large diamond engagement ring to photographers.

After spending Valentine's Day with Madden in New York, Richie continued the romance after Letterman yesterday as the couple dined at Abe's & Arthurs restaurant in the trendy Meatpacking District.

Wearing a tight-fitting black bandage dress and killer heels, Richie proudly showed off her large engagement ring.

Writing on his Twitter micro-blogging page, Madden said: 'Yep, I'm engaged. Very happy.

'Yeah we've been engaged for a while so your all kind of late on that. But thanks for the hoopla all the same.'

The couple, who started dating in December 2006, are planning to wed this summer.

Their engagement comes five months after Richie gave birth to their second child, son Sparrow James Midnight Madden.

They also have a two-year-old daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden.
