A spectacular pear-shaped diamond ring is the star lot of the Sotheby's Important Jewels sale in New York this October.
Weighing 29.53 carats, the D-color, potentially flawless stone, which is surrounded by two heart-shaped diamonds and mounted in platinum, is estimated to fetch between $1.8 million-$2.2 million.
The ring highlights a New York Estate composed of classically styled jewels by Bulgari, David Webb, Tiffany and Co. and Van Cleef and Arpels.
Also featured in this estate is the "Botticelli" necklace made by Van Cleef and Arpels, which suspends two faceted amethyst drops from a diamond-studded foliate-motif collar and is estimated at $50,000-$75,000.
