A former skin cancer patient named Dawn Anderson has created handmade jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets that indicate when the sun's ultraviolet light becomes stronger by changing color.
The jewelry is made of wood and a mineral called black hematite, as well as beads that change color according to different ultraviolet ray levels.
Anderson stresses that the jewelry is in no way a remedy for cancer or sunburns. The bracelets and necklaces only operate as a precautionary measure, making the wearer aware when sunrays become dangerous.
Anderson donates part of her profits to initiatives that fight skin cancer. The jewelry is sold through Anderson's website, SunBling, com
