A gold pendant thought to date from the 15th century is to be auctioned at Sothebys next week. The Pendant has been valued between £150,000 and £250,000
An amateur metal detector found the pendant in a field and is said to have been buried since the time of Henry VIII.
It is no bigger than a postage stamp, but features an engraving of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
A Sothebys spokesperson said that the find was particularly rare, and that the craftmanship was "staggeringly ornate for such a small piece" adding
"It is remarkable that a gold pendant has survived intact and in such wonderful condition since the second half of the 15th century,".
