The president of a jewellery firm has been detained at an airport after allegedly under-declaring the value of the pieces she was carrying.
Sheetal Mafatlal, president of Mafatlal Jewellery, was held at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport last night (June 7th).
Ms Mafatlal was making a trip from London to Mumbai with the jewel-encrusted items, lovers of gold diamond rings and diamond drop earrings may be interested to hear.
An official from the Air Intelligence Unit of customs, told ExpressIndia.com, that Ms Mafatlal said the jewellery was worth around 30 lakh (£39,960).
They added: "However, as we suspected the cost to be significantly higher, we detained her and the process to gauge the accurate cost of the jewellery is in progress right now."
