A glittering piece of jewellery once owned by the Queen Mother has been sold at auction.
The diamond brooch went under the hammer in Matlock yesterday (May 13th) in a sale which attracted telephone bidders from around the world, lovers of diamond drop earrings and diamond pendants may be interested to hear.
There was also a fair amount of media curiosity, including a film crew from the Dickinson's Real Deal programme, as the item, which has a large central stone, went for £650.
Bidders from the US and across Europe were among those on the phone lines battling it out for the sparkling piece.
The item is believed to have been given by the Queen Mother to one of her employees as a gift.
Last week, a spokesperson for Bramfords Auctioneers told the Press Association that the piece was rare and international interest was expected when it went under the hammer.
