Diamond jewellery is being used to help disadvantaged people in the US, as one company owner launches a new charitable scheme.
Debbie Fox, owner of Fox Fine Jewelry in California, is inviting jewellers to donate to the programme with the aim of each one giving away 100 diamond necklaces.
Unemployed people will receive the items, while employed people can buy the diamond jewellery, with all of the profits being donated to the Points of Light Institute.
Ms Fox said the Share Ring scheme offers a simple way to "make a difference".
"Buying, wearing and giving Share Ring inspires people to consider ways that they can help, volunteer or donate," she added.
The jeweller stated that buying an item in the scheme is both "inspirational and helpful".
It is the latest in charity projects involving diamond jewellery with some ladies winning items for Mother's Day and other being up for grabs at a recent charity ball.
