A major body which focuses on items such as gold diamond rings and diamond bracelets has announced a new scheme.
The Leading Jewelers of the World revealed the implementation of its affiliate member initiative.
Michael Barlerin, executive director of the organisation, commented demand was behind the decision to put the scheme in place.
He said: "The decision was based upon a growing number of requests from within the industry. More and more jewellery vendors and providers of goods and services were asking me, 'How can we work with your group?'"
Mr Barlerin added that the body's board agreed that now was the right time to make the announcement, which coincided with the opening of the JCK Las Vegas and Couture jeweller shows.
In other industry news, earlier this week it was revealed that the Gemological Institute of America has joined the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC).
The RJC has more than 100 members and represents firms and bodies from numerous parts of the jewellery industry, including those involved with the mining process right through to trade associations.
