Companies selling times such as gold diamond rings and diamond bracelets have been advised on how they can safeguard their stock from theft.

Recently, a 9.10-carat jewel-encrusted band was stolen from an Australian outlet in broad daylight.

In response to this Robert Maroszek, director of Carat Smart Diamonds Australia, has issued guidelines for retailers.

He stated that recent incidents have shown that large, centrally-located outlets are at risk of thefts, while small, family-owned stores may also be in danger of criminals.

Mr Maroszek advises that alarm systems are kept up to date and operational, which consumers who store pieces such as diamond necklaces at home may also want to take on board.

He added that there is a thin line for retailers between showing off beautiful jewellery and attracting the attention of criminals, this is something which he commented should be continuously improved.

Police are currently investigating the recent Australian diamond ring theft, which took place while shoppers were inside the store.ADNFCR-1633-ID-19102385-ADNFCR
