Diamonds Set For Auction

Consumers with a passion for beautiful diamond will have the chance to add to their collections at an auction later this month.

On April 20th, Bonhams New York is hosting a sale which includes several rare gemstone-covered pieces.

Among those on offer will be Dreicer diamond necklace, with features a weight of 22.05-carats and is expected to fetch as much as $200,000 (£140,000).

Virginia Salem, director of jewellery for the auction house, said that she is excited about the items, such as diamond bracelets and diamond necklaces, which are up-for-sale.

She added: "In this economic climate, the number of well-priced, fresh to the market consignments is a step in a positive direction."

Art Deco diamond brooches, platinum bracelets and ruby, emerald and diamond pieces are among those set to go under the hammer.

In related news, a blue diamond is expected to fetch millions of dollars when it is sold at Sotheby's Geneva Magnificent Jewels sale on May 12th.
