Diamond rings are still proving popular, despite the global economic downturn, as style becomes the top priority for brides-to-be.
Research from Star Jewellers finds that the size and value of the ring is not the main priority as style is more important, reports the Press and Journal.
The study also showed that diamond rings are still a girl's best friend, with them remaining top choice despite people spending less on the jewellery in the recession.
Brilliant cut diamond rings are among the top two favourite types, however it seems men do not always know this, as many females think they would get it wrong if left to their own devices.
One respondent to the survey tells the newspaper: "It's the single piece of jewellery a woman will wear throughout her entire life. It needs to be very special, and also suited to that particular person."
Star Jeweller's survey follows comment in the Independent that more ladies are looking for an antique diamond ring to cut costs in the recession.
