Dazzling diamonds will be a major talking point in China next month as the country hosts its largest ever jewellery industry conference.
The Gemological Association of Great Britain's chief executive officer Jack Ogden will be among those making his way to the International Coloured Gemstone Association's congress between May 5th and 10th.
As part of the event, Mr Odgen will give a talk on gem education for the 21st century, lovers of items such as gold diamond rings and diamond pendants may be interested to hear.
He said that the aim of the discussion is to inform industry members and allow them to recognise elements of stones which they may never have noticed before.
Mr Odgen continued: "The challenge is to achieve the right scientific balance and keep the courses appealing."
In other industry news, earlier this month Dr Francios Loriot, chairman of the World Jewellery Confederation Education Foundation's academic board, announced plans for a corporate social responsibility initiative for the diamond sector.
