However, many people are instead turning to gemstones, as they are more affordable, lovers of items such as diamond bracelets and diamond drop earrings may be interested to hear.
Retailers are recommending jewel-encrusted pieces due to the rising price of commodities, the source adds.
Managing director of VNM Gold Ravi Nath Mohandas told the website: "Many customers opt for diamond jewellery set in platinum rather than in gold."
Analysts have recently predicted that the price of the precious material will be boosted by the Akshaye Tritiya festival.
