The economic downturn is not stopping people buying items such as gold diamond rings, according to a source.
Michelle Graff, writing for the National Jeweler Network, says that US consumers are not being put off by the recession, with the bridal market fairing particularly well.
According to the source, would-be brides and grooms are not "likely to let the economy crash their wedding".
It goes on to say that, despite this, some may be forced to downsize their engagement band.
Steven Singer, owner of an outlet in the US, tells the news provider that shoppers are still aware of exactly what they want when it comes to gold and platinum diamond rings, although some are opting for slightly smaller sizes.
Earlier this month, the National Jeweler Network stated that Hollywood's A-listers have continued to wear items such as diamond bracelets and diamond necklaces at awards shows this year, despite the credit crunch.
