An increasing number of women are buying gold diamond rings for their partner, according to a source.
Katy Hall, writing for the Columbia News Service, commented that while the trend of men wearing engagement bands has been prominent in Europe for many years, it is now taking off in the US.
One couple to take this route are Matt Hayman and Regina Engleka.
Ms Engleka told the news provider her reasons behind going shopping for gold diamond rings for her beau.
She said: "I wanted to give him some token of my love, and a ring just made sense. He said I obviously wanted to marry him if I was the one buying the ring."
Mr Hayman accepted the proposal and will wear the band until the marriage, when it will then be turned into a wedding ring, the source added.
Earlier this week, stars such as John Mayer and Kate Silverton were spotted shopping for jewel-encrusted bands.
