Police are today searching for thieves who stole gold diamond rings from a wealthy businessman at knife-point.
Steve O'Connor, who co-owns the Widnes Vikings rugby team, revealed that the bands along with a diamond bracelet and jewel-encrusted watches were taken in a raid on his Merseyside home.
The 43-year-old was told by the four raiders that his wife and four-year-old child would be killed if he tried to stop them.
He said: "They made threats and implied their intention was to kill my son and me if they didnt get what they wanted."
Around £30,000's worth of jewellery such as the gold diamond rings were taken during the incident, with the thieves also making away with cash.
Last month, raiders held the fiance of Scotland footballer Darren Fletcher at knife-point as they stole diamond jewellery.
The thieves struck while the midfielder was away with his club side Manchester United for a game in Europe.
