Star Denies Diamond Ring Reports

A US star who is married to Mariah Carey has denied reports that he cannot afford the songstress's engagement band.

Rapper and presenter Nick Cannon was alleged to have been sued by the jewellers from which he purchased the gemstone-covered band for $500,000 (£352,000).

However, in a blog posting he has said that not only are these claims untrue, but the item, which includes a giant diamond surrounded by smaller gems, also cost more than $500,000, lovers of platinum diamond rings may be interested to hear.

Mr Cannon wrote: "It was this craziness about me being broke and being sued by my jeweller! Ridiculous! I just got like three new major multi-million dollar deals in the last two months."

He added that if the jewel-encrusted ring had cost $500,000, it "would have been a deal".

Last year, Ms Carey was unhappy at reports that the band had been given to Mr Cannon's previous fiance before being handed to her, although this claim has been denied.
