Police Search For Diamond Ring Thief

US police are today searching for a thief who stole a diamond ring from an elderly woman.

The $45,000 (£32,600) jewel-encrusted band was taken from the finger of a 92-year-old in the car park of a Catholic church in Orlando.

In news which may interest lovers of gold diamond rings, the silver item was stolen when a man approached the elderly lady's vehicle, before slipping the ring from her hand and fleeing.

The victim was told by the man while the theft was taking place that she had been followed from a local garage.

Police have revealed that the item is a silver five-carat diamond wedding band in a four-prong setting and that grease was used to ease it off the 92-year-old's finger.

Recently, hip-hop and reality TV star Coolio was at the centre of a jewel theft when he had diamond necklaces stolen while performing to students at Staffordshire University.
