A loved-up Briton enlisted the help of a local exhibition when proposing to his partner.
Rob Colbourn arranged for a jewel-encrusted band to be placed behind a glass case at the City Museum and Art Gallery in Bristol.
The romantic romeo added a card beneath the item which said "Used by Rob Colbourn in proposal of marriage to Marisa Stabler", lovers of gold diamond rings may be interested to hear.
Ms Stabler accepted the proposal, leaving staff at the museum to get the casing open before Mr Colbourn could get down on one knee and let his bride-to-be have a closer look of the glittering engagement band.
A spokesperson for the exhibition said: "The museum is a romantic building but it was unusual to be asked to do something like this. We thought we could help make it a special occasion for them."
The news comes shortly after Carlee Kelly, a manager of a US-based retailer, told Medill Reports that the economic downturn is affecting the size of engagement ring women receive.
