Leading members of the diamond jewellery industry have met to discuss the future of the sector.
Moti Ganz, president of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMI), talked through numerous issues affecting the market with representatives for 14 national manufacturing associations.
The meeting took place in Antwerp and primarily focused on sustainability, retailers and lovers of items such as platinum diamond rings and diamond bracelets may be interested to hear.
According to the delegates, the sector is showing signs of recovery from the economic downturn, however, members were advised to act responsibly through the recession.
During the discussion the World Diamond Council was given its backing by the IDMI.
In other industry news, one of the sector's major events is taking place in Germany this week.
Baselworld 2009 runs until April 2nd and attracts visitors from around the world, including jewellery designers, manufacturers, retailers and those who just love wearing glittering pieces.
