Designer Joey Chueng Lai Yee has been given an accolade at the International Jewellery Design Excellence (IJDE) Awards, those with diamond jewellery may be interested to know.
His Eternity Blooming diamond necklace earned the Champion of the Champions prize at the ceremony, which opened yesterday in Hong Kong.
The awards were organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Jewellers and Goldsmiths' Association, the Hong Kong Jewellery and Jade Manufacturers Association and the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China.
The Aesthetic Award was given to Lila Wong Lei Na for Storming Lady, Charming Rose, designed by Wang Nan Ge, won the Craftsmanship Award and Rajvi Mehta's Night of Wishes diamond bracelets won the Innovation and Uniqueness in Design Award.
Lawrence Ma, chairman of the Jewellery Advisory Committee and the Fair Organising Committee, opened the event by emphasising the "trying times" the world is in.
He adds: "We at the HKTDC are working hard to develop business opportunities in emerging markets and to enhance Hong Kong's role as Asia's major sourcing and distribution centre."
