Consumers prefer elegant and simple designs when it comes to gold diamond rings, according to a source.
Nicole Cerrone, a renowned US jewellery designer, told the Age that attitudes have changed over time with regards to gemstone-covered engagement bands.
He stated that in recent years elegant and refined jewellery has become the most popular for brides-to-be.
Mr Cerrone told the news provider: "Engagement rings are a very traditional gift, people tend to be very classical. It also has to be wearable. These days we notice less complicated people tend to enjoy it more."
He went on to say his Passione 2009 collection is proving to be popular, with the cut of the products marking them apart from other gold and platinum diamond rings.
