Numerous other stars attended Academy Award celebrations and the event itself wearing sparkling jewels.

The evergreen Madonna rolled back the years as she appeared with 22-year-old toyboy Jesus Luz, with the Ray of Light singer opting for diamond bracelets and platinum pieces.

A selection of Neil Lane platinum and jewel-encrusted rings and chains completed her look.

Not to be outdone, Victoria Beckham also dazzled on the red carpet.

The former Spice Girl sparkled in diamond and platinum hair accessories as she attended Elton John's pre-Oscars party, which was held at the Pacific Design Centre and included a charity auction.

At the event itself, Kate Winslet and Penelope Cruz were among the award-winning actresses to wear gemstones, with the latter complementing her outfit with diamond bracelets and earrings.
