Oscar Jewellery Speculation Mounts

Speculation is mounting Stateside as to whether the stars will be covered in dazzling gemstones at the forthcoming Oscars.

The ceremony traditionally sees a host of famous faces step onto the red carpet wearing items such as gold diamond rings and diamond necklaces.

However, celebrity gossip lovers are now wondering if the economic downturn will result in more refined choices, rather than the all-out dazzling designs favoured by some in recent years.

Despite these worries, Hal Rubenstein, fashion director for InStyle magazine, commented the stars must step out in glittering pieces.

He said: "Would you really want to tune in and see a bunch of women walking down the red carpet in black pantsuits? It's a recession, not an apocalypse."

Earlier this month, diamond drop earrings were among the items on show at the Unforgettable Evening gala diner, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Courtney Cox among those opting to wear dazzling jewellery.
