Industry Event Revealed

An industry event which aims to educate those dealing with items such as gold diamond rings and diamond bracelets is set to take place next month, it has been revealed.

The Fair Trade Jewellery Conference will be held at the Baselworld Watch and Jewellery Show on March 30th.

Among the issues set to be discussed at the event, which will run from the Montreal Hall at the Basel Congress Centre, are fair trade initiatives and the role of the private sector in related to the industry.

The Rapaport Group will sponsor the conference, which will also talk about how fair trade jewellery can be made, sourced and marketed.

Also up-for-discussion will be the differences between terms such as ethical, conflict-free and charitable in relation to the production and sale of items such as platinum diamond rings.

In other industry news, Moti Ganz, president of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association, gemstone manufacturers must find the correct balance in their operations during the economic downturn.
