Diamond Ring Lessons Available

Sellers of items such as gold diamond rings and diamond necklaces may be able to benefit from a new initiative set up by a major industry body.

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has unveiled an online scheme which aims to educate on the topic of jewellery sales.

As part of its Accredited Jewelry Professional diploma programme, the GIA is offering the eLearning course for those interested in brushing up their gemmoligical skills.

Donna Baker, president and chief executive officer of the company, commented the move is "revolutionizing" this form of education, adding web-based services are the future for the sector.

She said: "GIA is charged with maintaining an international standard, and one way to do this is by providing jewelers with expert gemological training."

Last month, it was announced that the Jewelers Vigilance Committee will hold two seminars during February in Tucson, with legal issues among the topics up for discussion.
