Lovers of items such as gold diamond rings and diamond bracelets may be able to pick up a bargain as unclaimed items go up for auction this week.
Officials in Wisconsin are putting jewels worth more than $10,000 (£7,000) up for sale on eBay.
Treasurer Dawn Sass commented while she would prefer the item's rightful owners to come forward, these pieces have been abandoned for several years, which is why they are going under the hammer.
She added: "The exciting part of the auction is the potential for the forgotten item to have a second chance at life and make new memories."
Among the pieces, which have been unclaimed for five years to qualify for the sale, are a pair of diamond earrings and a gold diamond necklace.
Money raised by the auction, which is now underway and will run until February 2nd, will be held for the rightful owners for an indefinite period.
Next month, a ring believed to have been owned by Charles Dickens will go up for sale at auction.
