Michelle Obama did not disappoint the expectant onlookers as she appeared at her husband's inauguration wearing an array of glittering jewels.
The first lady wowed the crowds throughout the day in a succession of stunning outfits.
Mrs Obama shone in a Jason Wu ivory gown at the Washington Ball, which she complemented with diamond drop earrings, diamond bracelets and a gemstone-encrusted ring.
Earlier in the day, she dazzled in a gemstone-covered necklace, which she had teamed up with an Isabel Toledo dress.
That was not the end of the jewels though, as the fashion icon opted for a pair of olive-coloured gloves which featured two diamond studs.
During her husband's election campaign, the 45-year-old was spotted wearing items such as diamond brooches and bracelets.
Around two million spectators turned out in Washington to witness the inauguration of President Obama, while research from Just-East.co.uk claims many Britons stayed late at work to watch the event on television.
