More ladies could soon be down on one knee proposing as a jeweller releases the first UK engagement rings for men.
The Tioro ring has been released to cater for a growing demand for women to buy their husband-to-be a ring.
Engagement rings for men are more popular in Scandinavia and Spain, but have yet to become commonplace in the UK.
However, as more women pop the question they are looking for a token to seal the deal.
Natashe Gregory, buying controller for H Samuel, which released the new ring, says: "UK women are no longer waiting until the man pops the question. We are equals in the work place and in relationships and we make our own decisions."
She adds that some ladies are using the ring as a clear sign to others that the man is already promised to someone else.
Etiquette for wearing the ring is different for men, compared to women, as the male should wear the engagement band on the ring finger of his left hand until the wedding when it should be transferred to the right hand and replaced with a wedding band.
Couples have recently been urged to look for an eco-ring when picking their wedding bands, with Cathy Wilson, writing for thepost.ohiou.edu, saying environmentally-friendly gold is available.
