A major industry organisation is gearing up for a new initiative which aims to educate investors and shoppers in China about sparkling jewellery.
HRD Antwerp is taking part in a roadshow which will travel through the country as part of a promotional schedule.
It is hoped that by the time the event concludes millions of Chinese consumers will have benefited from the tour, which includes a showing of the ECC Diamond Trophy - the centre-piece of the event.
George Brys, general manager for HRD Antwerp, commented on the importance of developing relationships in the country.
He said: "China's consumer base is growing, and along with it the market for luxury goods. It is clear that for diamonds, now and in the years to come, China is the place to be."
Beijing will be the first port of call for the certification company, which provides documents for those selling items such as gold diamond rings and diamond necklaces, on January 17th, before it rolls on to 19 other cities.
