London this week hosted the Diamond Trading Company's sightholders in an annual reception, which was hosted by the body's managing director Varda Shine.
A discussion of the year ahead for the sector was the focal point of the event, with how the economic downturn will be weathered high on the list of topics.
Ms Shine commented in her speech to attendees that their recommendations will be taken account by the organisation.
She added: "We will take a long-term view when making decisions on our strategy, in the context of prevailing consumer demand, stock and liquidity challenges."
Ms Shine went on to say investments will be made into marketing campaigns which show the value of diamonds, which can be used to make items such as diamond stud earrings and platinum diamond rings.
