A Chinese woman was faced with every lover of gold diamond rings worst nightmare when she returned home to find her son had sold her most beloved possession.
The mother came home to find her child had rebelled against his parents after they refused to buy him a comic book, choosing to take a jewel-encrusted band to a local pawn shop to raise the funds himself, reports Babble.com.au.
After receiving 200 yuan (£21) for the engagement ring, the boy spent the cash on comics.
Upon returning home, the angry parents trudged to the pawn shop, where they were told they could not buy the item back for the price at which it was sold, the news source adds.
However, after involving local authorities, it was deemed the 15-year-old was too young to have made the deal, meaning the ring was returned, the website concludes.
In other news on gold diamond rings, earlier this week it was revealed the wife of celebrity chef Marco Pierre White handed her engagement band over to a divorce lawyer to help fund her legal fees.
