Sentimental Value 'is Key' For Diamonds

Sentimentality is a key factor in the value of gold diamond rings, according to a source.

Laura Chow, regional director and vice president for South-East Asian business at Lazare Kaplan, told the Star Online that jewels are "always worth more than they cost".

She stated: "The emotional value, be it an engagement ring or a heirloom passed down from generation to generation, proves to be priceless to their owners."

Ms Chow went on to tell the news provider there are two types of diamond, it may interest owners of items such as platinum diamond rings to learn.

She went on to say these are either industrial or gem quality, with 200 tonens of ore needed in order to find one example which falls into the latter category.

The expert went on to say such jewels are "investments that can be worn and not lose their value".

In recent weeks, dazzling diamonds have been snapped up at auction, with several selling above their estimates.
