Jewels Sparkle At Showbiz Event

Diamonds were once again out in full force at a red carpet event, according to a source.

Glittering pieces were sparkling as far as the eye could see at the Annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Dubai Gala, reports the Jewelry Insider blog.

According to the news provider, Goldie Hawn opted for diamond necklaces and a pair of diamond drop earrings.

The blog commented on Ms Hawn's choices: "Her lobster-bib sized diamond necklace with gemstone accents took things to an entirely new level."

Meanwhile, actress Salma Hayek wowed audiences with a gemstone-encrusted rosette.

During the event $1.8 million (£1.2 million) was raised for the cause thanks to auctions for various items, including a personalised diamond cuff which was signed by Ms Hayek and a portrait of Marilyn Monroe.

Earlier this month, world chess champion Viswanathan Anand was recognised for his achievements by being handed a jewel-covered ring by Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
