A diving mission has resulted in a missing diamond ring being recovered, it has been reported.
Five divers were used in the waters off Clave Island in the Philippines on Friday (October 31st) to locate the diamond ring owned by Miss Earth candidate Piyaporn Deejing of Thailand, according to Inquirer.net.
The ring, which is a family heirloom, was dropped by a member of staff at a beauty pageant, leading the island's mayor Hernani Braganza to launch the effort to recover it.
Ms Deejing told the news provider: "My grandmother gave it to my aunt who then gave it to me.
"It is not the price but the sentimental value of the ring that matters."
The diamond ring was eventually discovered buried over a one foot deep in sand and returned to the beauty queen, who said she thought she would never see it again.
Last week, amusement park Alton Towers revealed 800 pieces of jewellery have been recovered from the Corkscrew ride during it 28-year history, which may interest gold diamond ring owners.
