'Early Diamond Ring' On Show

One of the earliest known examples of a diamond wedding ring is to go on show this week.

The band is part of an exhibition on Italian men and women from the Renaissance period which is being held in New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

In news which may interest owners of gold diamond rings, the jewel-encrusted item is within the marriage section of the show, which begins on November 18th and is titled Art and Love in Renaissance Italy.

Around 150 other pieces, including paintings from as far back as 1400, glassware and other jewellery, are separated under the headings betrothal, marriage and childbirth.

The show is set to run until February 16th and includes the work of artists such as Botticelli and Lotto.

Meanwhile, owners of gold diamond rings may be interested to learn of several modern uses for the gemstones which have been revealed in recent weeks, such as for a Bentley car fob and in a Japanese mobile phone.
