A major diamond scheme is set to expand, according to reports.
The Dubai government's International Diamond Laboratories (IDL) project is to increase its operations.
It has been announced the IDL, which aims to raise consumer positivity regarding gems such as those used in gold diamond rings and diamond necklaces, will open an office in Italy next month.
Peter Meeus, chief executive officer for the initiative, said the services offered by the body will "help raise confidence" within the public.
He added: "Being present in a world renowned jewellery manufacturing hub like Italy is an important step for us."
The IDL already has offices in Antwerp, Istanbul, Dubai and Mumabi and hopes to have the new Valenza presence open by the middle of December.
Earlier this year, figures released by JCK-Harrison Group found an increasing number of shoppers are buying items such as platinum diamond rings and diamond necklaces over the internet.
