Diamond Ring Suspect Arrested

A man suspected of stealing a platinum diamond ring has been arrested.

Barry Bartel was caught on CCTV taking the 3.5-carat band, which is worth around $110,000 (£74,000), from an American jewellery outlet.

He visited the store several times before stealing the item in order to build up trust with workers, it may interest owners of gold diamond rings to learn.

The 36-year-old often appeared in the shop with an older man he claimed to be his father and the pair stated they were looking for a present for a family member.

However, on November 2nd, after asking to see a platinum diamond ring, Mr Bartel ran out of the shop and into a waiting vehicle.

Police have revealed that while the wanted man is in custody, the ring is still missing.

In other news regarding stolen platinum diamond rings, earlier this year Kate Moss feared she had lost a £200,000 jewel-encrusted band when her car was broken into.

However, the model was relieved to find only a box of chocolates and £10 had been taken.
