Actress 'dug Up Engagement Ring'

Jennifer Hudson has revealed her fiancee put a new twist on romance when he proposed earlier this year.

The singer-actress told Contactmusic.com she had to dig up her own engagement ring on the beach, it may be of interest to owners of platinum diamond rings to learn.

Sex and the City and Dreamgirls star Ms Hudson claimed boyfriend David Otunga took her to the beach and blindfolded her, before telling her to dig up the sand.

Ms Hudson added: "I ended up digging through all this sand. When I found it, it was a bunch of beautiful cards, one related to the other and the last one said, 'Look around, take the moment in, turn around and I have a gift for you.'"

The former American Idol contestant recently showed off the diamond ring on a US chat show.

She told Jay Leno on the Tonight Show she is engaged to a "beautiful guy".
