Woman Wins £2,000 Diamond Necklace

A Sheffield woman has won a diamond necklace worth over £2,000 in a competition, after admiring it in a shop window.

Marie O'Gorman was looking at the jewels in the Leslie Davis store in the Meadowhall shopping centre when she decided to enter the competition, reports the Sheffield Star.

The challenge involved comparing the Leo diamond to others and noting the differences between them.

Ms O'Gorman said it was "very clear which one was brighter" and she received a chocolate for guessing right, which inside said she had won.

In total there are 12 Leo diamond pendants worth £2,000 which are up for grabs, in addition to a ring valued at £6,000, with the competition being run across the country.

The British Jewellers' Association has recently released a guide to buying diamonds, which includes advice on checking the quality of the jewel.

According to the association, it is an "invaluable asset" for those purchasing items.
