A quarter of Brits would give their ex-partner's jewellery to their new love, latest research claims.
The study carried out by Bloom and Co states 25 per cent of participants would pass on pieces such as diamond necklaces and diamond bracelets.
Of the 2,000 people questioned 43 per cent claimed they would give an engagement ring back to an ex, while 40 per cent believed the ring should remain theirs to keep.
Meanwhile, 43 per cent said they have a ring they have not worn for more than five years.
Rebecca Wright, marketing manager for Bloom and Co, said: "It seems that people have jewellery that they are not wearing because it has some emotional attachment to an ex."
The study showed men are more likely to pass on second-hand jewellery, with 15 per cent happy to do so given their new partner did not find out.
Meanwhile, Bremer Jewelry has this week given away diamond engagement rings for free as part of its 'Pray for Rain' scheme, reports samarajames.com.
