The forthcoming auction of jewellery owned by America's most famous hip-hop stars has been described as a key departure from auction house traditions by one news source.
According to Sassy Bella, the Hip Hop's Crown Jewels auction being held by Phillips de Pury in October is to mark the first time bling from the world of hip hop will be available to the public in such a fashion.
Including items owned by Missy Elliot, Tupac Shakur, 50 Cent and Pharrell Williams, among others, one of the most attention-grabbing pieces at the auction is set to be Lil' Jon's Crunk Ain't Dead gold and diamond pendant.
"It certainly will be interesting to see who buys what, and if any mega-stars purchase pieces that once belonged to their contemporaries. Crunk ain't dead, and neither, it seems, is bling," the blog suggests.
Diamond Intelligence Briefs has revealed that the pendant set a Guinness World Record for being the largest item of jewellery of its kind.
