The British Jewellers Association has offered some recommendations for people considering buying a pear shape diamond ring, diamond bracelet or pair of diamond stud earrings.
Geoff Field, chief executive of the British Jewellers' Association (BJA), has commented that the purchase of an expensive piece of jewellery is a big occasion for many people, so it is vital they are equipped with the necessary information.
A new area of the BJA's website aims to provide this service, giving consumers advice on the four Cs related to the quality of diamonds among other pertinent information.
"We are confident that this new area of our website will provide an invaluable resource to everyone who loves jewellery and is keen to understand more about it and the fabulous natural materials used in its production," Mr Field added.
He was speaking ahead of the International Jewellery London event, which takes place between August 31st and September 3rd 2008.
